Police within the Chifley LAC are warning people to be wary of email scams after reports of a widespread email scam.
Chifley LAC police warn people of email scams spreading online. With emails sent out informs to the recipient they have a traffic fine, which needs to be paid. Within the email, a link is provided in which it will instruct people on how to pay online.
A statement released, Chifley Local Area Command stated that “infringements were posted out via mail and not emailed unless you were stopped and supplied an email address. You would also have to agree to the infringement being emailed to you.
If you receive an email stating that you have an unpaid infringement do not download any files, click on links or provide any financial information, delete the email and make a report via the https://www.acorn.gov.au website.
